No it doesn't hurt, but caliali3 is right about the damage to your teeth. I've had mine for almost a year and already I notice small chips in my teeth and hairline fractures along the top of my bottom front teeth. That's with acrylic beads too...

Of course it hurts...you're putting a hole in your body. I've gotten it done twice...took one out and then did the other. Make sure they do it far enough back though that its not too close to the tip of your tongue because that is really annoying. Go somewhere that takes their needles out of sterilized packages and have someone do it who has a lot of experience. It really only hurts for about a day. I think the hardest thing to get use to is talking and eating...especially with the long jewelry...be careful when you eat with that because its easy to chomp down on it. Think about it really carefully though because it is easy to break your teeth and to put a gap in your front teeth especially. I took mine out because at night my tongue would swell and I would have trouble talking also it was irritating the roof of my mouth. Also you have to get plastic balls for your barbell and a shorter barbell after your tongue heals. And be careful with those plastic balls because for one they fall off also when you chomp down on it if you get teeth marks in it and parts of it sticks up it really hurts the roof of your mouth. Also just a tip...there is no sexual difference.

Im sure it hurts, but it heals faster than most piercings because your mouth heals very fast. I have a bellyring and it takes a year to fully heal because of the constant rub of fabrics rubbing against it like T-shirts and whatnot. i want a tongue ring, but im gonna have to wait because my parents wont let me. haha. but anyway, i did research a while ago, it doesnt take long to heal at all. and it'll probably be sore for about a week ..maybe 2. but severe pain... i dont think so

Okay, don't do it. I don't know if it hurts, but it ruins the back of your front teeth. Because of the fact that... well when your tounge ring [or whatever u want to call it] rubs against them, it like grates them and it makes your teeth like be grated down and they get thin and ruined.

u shouldnt get a tongue piercing....u cn get a lot of diseases nd its really unhealthy fer u. cuz like when u eat some food cn get stuck in the hole nd the metal or whatever thingy cn get all disgusting....plus im sure it hurts....
