You won't see much with a abdominal scan, once they realize that they will probably do a transvaginal ultrasound.

I had my first ultrasound at 8w1d and they could see the heartbeat, but other than that baby only looked like a tiny bean inside a raindrop shape "sack". Mine was not a "belly" ultrasound it was a "probe" that the doctor stuck up inside, so I don't know what will be able to be seen with a belly ultrasound. You might ask about the "probe" it was more invasive, but I was there getting my annual visit too. So what was one more thing up inside, right? It was definitely a different experience, but I was still super-excited to see our little bean. Good luck and God Bless!

i had my first one at 6w3d and that was abdominal i wil neva let them put that thing down there, anywayz i was able to see a lil dot and hear the heart, my next one was at 10w and it was looking like a tiny tiny baby, so at 8 weeks im guessing u can see a very very very tiny person and hear the heart beat also..how did the ultrasound go

Maybe. I had one at 10 weeks and it had to be an Internal because I was still early along.

But I have hear that sometimes they can see ones as early as 8 weeks.

yes we had one at 9 weeks, it will be small and really you wont be able to tell whats what and just see nubs where the arms and legs will one day be.at 8 weeks they can do an abdominal one and see. ours was fairly big tho, it was bigger than a peanut size. but ours was also 2 weeks advanced. but you will most likely see the baby

I'm surprised they're doing an abdomnial one at 8 weeks.. that is very early... They really should be doing a transvaginal one at this stage.. You won't see much either way, but it'll be a litlte bean with a flicker in the middle.. that's the heartbeat!

i had one done at around the same time, its not abnormal to have one now!!

i could see baby had little arms and legs at this stage and of corse ull see the heart beat, and also the yolke sac that is still feeding baby.

When i had mine at 7 weeks, it does not really look like a baby, more like a peanut, but you can see the heart beating on the screen, the will measure the heartrate, they will also measure the feutus to give you a more accurate gestational date as well as a due date. good luck and congrats! dont forget. full bladder! :)

well they did a abdominal ultrasound on me when i was 5wks. we saw something but it was not very clear. so they did a vaginal ultrasound. its not as bad as it sounds. we also got to hear the heartbeat. very very faintly though. :)
