I've been in Oil & Gas industry for 30+ years. My offshore experience (with divers) tells me that a regular monthly salary doesn't exist due the nature of the business. Usually a 'callout' for underwater welding is required. A lot of steps are taken to try and avoid underwater welding. But when it becomes necessary, the customer needs to really get his checkbook ready!
As a rule, divers make pretty good money, especially saturation diving (deeper water) - they get depth pay / ft.
You would need dive experience + underwater welding experience to be 'called-out'.
There may be some extended demand for underwater welding in some areas - but this is not a true ongoing monthly kind of thing.
