Our church has no problems with our constitution. There are seven conditions under which divorce is granted as per the Christian marriage act. While society and the church used to treat divorced men and women as outcast just a decade ago, as long as everyone knows the reasons are genuine and that divorce actually ensured justice to the victim in the marriage, it has become acceptable. Even remarriage has become acceptable.
But divorce by mutual consent is still frowned upon because we still think that the couples opt for that when they do not have solid grounds for separation.
Edit: The church never recommends divorce. The church still limits its role to counselling and granting refuge to the victimised person. Getting married and getting divorced is purely an individual's decision.
1. (Apostasy) The scripture tells us that if the unbelieving spouse is pleased to dwell with(i.e. accepts their Christianity) the believing spouse, then do not put away or leave. Although apostasy is one who first believed, and then turned away, this is still the same application.
2. (Domestic Violence & Infidelity) The scripture tells us the only exception is in fornication, which means not only immoral behavior in relations, but any other form of immoral behavior, that includes physical or verbal abuse. And we need to understand that the the abusing spouse is the one departing from the marriage; their unfaithful behavior declares their departure.
3. (Drugs or Substance Abuse) Those that need help we ought to have a stretched out hand of tolerance for.
They would ask you to try to get counseling 1st before getting a divorce, but if your spouse isn't willing and was putting you in jeopardy, then the marriage vows should be dissolved (annulled).
1 Corinthians chapter 5 gives a list of things that if any believer does you must drive them out and there is no exception even if you are married to them.
your place of worship should never recommend divorce. it's a personal matter that they can offer support. they should never offer their opinions. the bible only offer 1 reason for divorce:adultery
Yes and God allows it. But if we seek God and the one God has for us this will not happen. For God knows the one we will grow with, not apart from. Jesus said not to be unequally yoked and we are with almost all but the one for us. And God knows who it is and can bring them to us, it we ask and follow to get him/her. message for more on anything.
"But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."

Yeah, after counseling was suggested Im sure.
Domestic violence is not acceptable in my church, nor is any kind of child abuse or incest.

if only the recommendation is at right in the beginning, why divorce?
