I was applying to UCSD and it asked to arrange from 1-6 the school I would like to get into. It had Revelle College, Thurgood Marshall College, Elanor Roosevelt College, Sixth College, John Muir College, and Earl Warren College.
I thought the schools were for specific majors, like IT. But I'm not sure.

Schools are not for specific majors. Depending on which of the six schools you get into, will determine what general education you get. If I remember correctly, Revelle is like a typically general education while Roosevelt concentrates in foreign policy, sixth technology. But not it's not major based. You can be an art major and be in the sixth college.
I would look at general education that each college requires and see if it concentrates in what you plan to major in or something completely new you'd like to try.
Good luck!
