am looking for some suggestions to gain weight. I am 5'4, 100lb female. I try to eat regularly, but I can never seem to gain a pound. My body mass index is 17.5 which puts me in the underweight category. I have tried adding a protein supplement to my diet, but so far it seems to cause me to use the washroom more than normal, which is actually hindering me from gaining, not helping. I also suffer from rosacea and have read on countless on-line websites that if you have rosacea you can't eat any carbs because that makes it worse. So how on earth can I gain weight without harming my skin more?
Update:I was using a whey protein drink mix purchased at a local Wal-mart. It is difficult for me to know for sure what I react to, since my skin generally looks bad all of the time:( However I read that carbs can make rosacea worse, but honestly I need carbs, since I am so thin!

A good food for your skin is avocadoes, and they're relatively high in calories. You can put them in all kinds of salads, make guacamole, etc. Oily fish (salmon, mackerel, etc.) are also great for the skin and have a good amount of calories in them.
What kind of protein supplement were you using? What kind of foods do you know you react to?
Edit: yes, you need carbs. You should find out if you have any kind of intolerances to wheat/gluten. Brown rice and potatoes are good choices for carbs, same with vegetables and fruitss, although some kinds of fruits provoke skin reactions, like citrus fruits and kiwis and strawberries - be very aware of how you react to things!
As for protein, try 100% whey protein. Avoid soy. If you react to the whey, try egg protein, or hemp protein.
