Has anyone been to Varadero in late December/early January? We are trying to decide if it's going to be a nice hot trip for water sports etc. Thinking of Punta Cana but would like a Cuban experience though.
Most likely the weather will be fine in December and January In July and August it's too hot. In December and January the nights can be a bit chilly so take a jacket with you for the evenings.
Actually, it is the dry season from November onwards! You will miss most, if not all, of the rain. In fact, the rainy season is actually the hottest season, but it is so ridiculously hot that you would struggle to go outside. While you're there, It will be very hot the whole time, but manageable, you'll be wanting air conditioning - trust me! There will be a lot of sunshine. I'm sure you'll have a great time! :)
You can look forward to great weather for your trip at that time of year. If you check the link below there is an almanac for past years. I've added a few more links you may find of help. For sure take a tour of Havana it's unforgettable Chances are if you go once it wil be your choice for the future. Cubans are every bit as wonderful as their country.
Go to Cuba. You won't regret it at all. Varadero (Cuba in fact) is amazing all year round. For sure you will enjoy the hot weather, the sun, and water sports/activities. There is a lot to do and you will never be bored...but relaxing is also so easy to do.
You will make friends for life with the Cuban friends you meet and their love and zest for life is infectious. Cuba is safe and the people are genuine.

In December the weather might not be as good as in summer, but still is good. The best beach in the world
Give fidel my regards and a kiss. Be careful, it might drool all over you when it begins its delusions about what it did for comunism
