I'll be starting college next year and want to switch my cell service to Verizon. I've looked into plans, and the Nationwide one for about 60 a month looks good, does anybody have a plan they think is better on Verizon? And what phones do u suggest that are fairly cheap but will last a long time? I don't need a fancy phone or apps or anything, just something i can make and receive calls and messages on.

Buying the phone online will be cheaper.
Verizons rate plans are expensive but they do have the most coverage. The plan you picked will probably be fine.
If you text a lot, the unlimited messaging select plan is a better deal. If not, the plan you chose + 5.00 for 250 messages will be great for you.
The EnV2 has some little features you probably don't need but it's only 49.99 online, and has a full keyboard.
If you truly want a basic phone the Samsung Smooth is good
If you want a few frills, the Samsung Trance is free online and very nice, and doesn't have too much of what you don't need.

For you, individually, I recommend a 'select' or 'collect' plan consisting of only 450 minutes. The first entitles you to unlimited text/pic messaging. The latter offers the same but also allows for mobile e mail and mobile web. (personally, the web feature is overrated) The e mail aspect is great because you can keep in touch with your parents' (long) letters and read them at your convenience. Both plans do come with '5 Friends and Family'.

As for phones, I would recommend either the Motorola Rival or the LG enV 2. Both are $49.99 after a rebate. I am partial to cameras on phones as they do come in handy. Both have a 2.0 mp camera which is baseline good quality.
