Vertical lines on laptop screen?
Okay, so.. I got a new HP Pavilion Dv7 laptop for christmas from my parents, and this started happening on like the first day before I even downloaded anything.. It doesnt happen often, but the screen just randomly locks up and theres a whole bunch of black and gray vertical lines and I end up having to force shutdown and reboot.. Any help?

Return the laptop for a replacement of the same model. This kind of lock up is not normal for a new machine, and would likely indicate a major issue.
Return it. Get a refund, and get sony.
Now, if you want more problems, and a defective battery, buy a mac.
