I have a 1971 VW Super Beetle Convertible. The car is new (to me) and we've had some issues getting it running safely. It works great except for the somewhat major issue of a leak in the gas tank. We currently have a mechanic who specializes in vintage cars, but he claims not to be able to smell gas anymore, being in the line of work which he is in, and twice now we've had it at his shop for extended time and twice we've had this issue on getting the car back. Obviously this needs to be addressed immediately; the car in not drivable in its current condition. I would love some suggestions if anyone knows of a good mechanic in the St. Louis area who understands vintage Beetles. I don't feel comfortable trying to address the issue myself, I really just want to find someone who knows what he/she is doing and get the car towed there as soon as possible. Thank you so much.
