Wages in 1850s America?
What were the wages for servants (not indentured) in the 1850s in NYC? I know that men got more than the women but what were the general amounts?
I've found information for the time period in England, but I need it for America.

Philadelphia 1850:
common laborer, .72-$1.12/day
carpenter, 1.00-1.75
1860:
common laborer, .96-$1.25/day
carpenter, 1.25-2.25/day
