If I had a website selling my services, what are the best ways to get the site known, and get a good amount of traffic?
Places I could advertise? Blogs? craigslist type of places?
Any ideas, or first hand experience with this stuff would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, how do you get your website to the top of the list when people search on search engines like google or yahoo?

The blogs need to have keywords that pertain to your business placed through out. When people do a search on google, the keywords are what google searches. Keywords also determine the rank of your page.
Make sure you link your website to your blogs. Make sure you utilize your keywords there as well.
Try to get back links on your websites and blogs.
Speaking of keywords, make sure you do research on keywords that get the hits. You can do this for free by going to Google Adwords and doing a search.
Place ads on Craigslist.org but don't forget Backpage.com, Oodles.com (speaking of Oodles, Walmart is teaming up with Oodles.com, they will probably be a good place to start as well) and USFreeAds.com.
