I asked a question yesterday about my kittens odd meow, now there is an odd purr. Its a short and deep rumble. When i say short i mean that the purr is very quick, maybe only 1.5 seconds. It sounds like a large ball bouncing on a wood floor quickly, lol its weird! This cat makes wierd noises. Can someone tell me the different types of cats noises and the meanings of them?

When kittens purr it does sound different to an adult cats, kittens make short purrs for moments before stopping again, and it can sound like a rumble a deep sort of sound, and as kittens grow their purrs and sounds will sound different, as their voice boxes will have grown,,
Chirping sounds is what we see cats do when they greet us,its a short quick meow.
Then there's the meow that is like a gurgling meow,a sound that comes from the throat this is a cat communicating with us their way of trying to get our attention.
but as well as the sounds you need to watch the tail as they communicate,a cat who is unsure will swish the tip of its tail,an angry cat will swish the whole tail,a relaxed cat hold the tail half down and a cat that greets us holds the tail straight up,and at times they hold it over their backs, this too is how they greet us,and the higher the tail the more pleased the cat is to see us,so its not only about sounds but tail movement too,
so when kittens just start purring they do it in short bursts, and the meow is different to what its going to be, but as your kitten grows you will come to understand what each and every one means,we tend to pick up the cat language very easily and cats pick up on english words too,
so yes your kitten is developing the way a kitten should, have raised over 500 kitens from birth due to foster and have heard them when they learn to purr gosh its so cute, and all communicate in kitten/cat language!
A kitten's voice will change as it grows, so could just be getting older.
You can learn your cats sounds as you get to know it.
A crying kind of meow can be because it wants something or is bored.
A chippy kind of sound is a question, wanting to know something or wants something.
