you seriously think CHI is bad??!! I'll give you the reasons your hair straightener you currently have doesnt work:

1. The temperature you have it set to could not be high enough

2. It could be a cheap straightener

I reccomend CHI's global beauty straightener. It works really well on my hair which is a lot like yours. Also, mine heats up quickly and unlike a lot of straighteners, it doesn't burn you unless you touch it to your skin.

Also, for the frizz I would reccomend CHI straightguard (its a serum you apply to your hair) Also, you can try the John Frieda shampoos and conditioners. I have brilliant brunette and it works very well.

You should Blow dry your hair with a flat comb instead of using a flat iron because it damages it less.

After you blow dry you hair straight, use Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk [You can pretty much get it anywhere, and it's not that expensive]. It makes your hair soft and un-frizzy (:
