Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004 is GREAT - because it's so easy to slice up and export projects as images + HTML tables, and the whole thing remains editable.

Freehand is horrible - I tried it and hated it... so unstable, and the interface keeps breaking. Looks like lousy beta software.
