first of all, i am not wanting to start him on them now ok. i have asked this on another site and i just got picked on because they thought i wanted to start him on it now. and i never got my answer.
he is 9 weeks old and breast fed. he is very advanced for his age and feeds for about 10-15 mins every half hour. he is awake all day and asleeps all night, apart from 5 hour feeds. so he eats alot. i have been giving him bottles the last two weeks aswell because he eats so much and hes still hungry after he drains me out. he copys me when i eat and just stares at my food lol and he has teeth coming out the gums too. so i dont think he will be able to wait until 6 months to start. my mum started me on t when i was just under 3 months and i was fine. i have been told 6 months is the best. but 4 months on the baby food and some other people. then some people say 3 months. and more say the mum will know because every baby is different. i am just so confused and torn. because i do feel he is ready. but i am thinking of his health and dont want to put him in danger so i will wait longer. when could i even just give him a tiny bit of the baby jelly?
when did you start? and when do you think i can?
Update:to some of you. clearly you did not read what i said, i do not want to start him now. i just asked a simple question of when did you. and yes he is advanced. all the doctors and midwifes say they are shocked of how he acts with things etc. and they have never seen anything like him. nit just because he has teeth! i know some babies are born with teeth, its the way he is. so you people were not helpful what so ever. just bitc hes!
others. thank you for advice. i am getting plenty of milk. gone up 3 cup sizes lol he just eats alot. he is taking it all in fine and is gaining weight perfectly! he is 100% healthy :) he is just a typical boy who likes the boobies and likes food.
ps. those cookies make me laugh

Mommy always knows best. So you will know when he is ready. I started my daughter at 4 months. I was also breast feeding but my Dr told me that when breast feeding the baby doesnt need to start anything else until around 8 months. You can try asking your dr. Good luck and god bless you and the baby. Also my dr did tell me that if the baby can get the food down that he/she is ready. Cause some have problems moving it from there tongue to there throat.
I started at 5 1/2 months.
Current recommendations are to wait until 6 months unless baby is CLEARLY ready earlier, in which case 4 months is the bare minimum. Breastfed babies especially benefit from waiting the full 6 months.
(The fact that you started early and weren't harmed doesn't mean that YOUR baby wasnt' harmed. I never rode in a car seat as a baby and never went through the windshield. I can assure that I didn't use this fact to justify not putting MY baby in a carseat.)
If your baby is nursing that often AND taking several bottles, I would be checking with a lactation consultant to be sure that there isn't a supply problem. If your supply IS low, then working to increase it (if possible) or supplementing with more formula or donor breastmilk (if NOT possible) would be a better choice than starting solids early. Pureed peas and rice cereal do NOT have the nutrients and fats your baby needs.
I had to start my son at 5 months he was starving over 32 oz a day but he is a big boy. My pedi recommend starting early and at 8 months my son has one bowl of oatmeal with fruit for breakfast and up to 3 more jars of food a day. I suggest waiting until 6 months and introduce slowly looking for allergies. All he needs is breastmilk! I was unable to breastfeeds due to my son having a milk allergy
No baby is ready at 9 weeks for solids. None. Zilch. Nada.
Trust me, he's not "very advanced for his age"; he's a 9 week old newborn. He has the rest of his life to eat solid food. Enjoy the comparitively short time he has to just breastfeed.
If he's eating that often, he's either not latching well or you're not producing enough. It is NOT a sign that he needs food.
Be responsible and wait.
I started my son on rice cereals at 4 months and then he started on pureed solids at 5 months because he can't handle milk. Just because the child has teeth, doesn't mean they instantly know how to chew. I would wait till the teeth that have started coming through, are fully through and then slowly try introducing purees if you like.
all the best. if you think his ready. try him on something and see how he takes to it.
good luck
My son started at 4mths, my daughter at 6mths. I started thm on solids when I thought they were ready. Never before 4mths though. but if he's ready at 4mths, go ahead. Before 4mth, they have a tongue thrust reflex that prevents them from taking anything off a spoon, leaving a huge mess and a frustrated baby!
I raised 3 children and began them at different times. First born; began 'gravy consistency' baby rice cereal at 10-days of age and jarred baby foods at 3-months. Second; jarred baby foods at 4-months. Third; jarred baby foods at 5-months.
baby's bodies aren't designed to "process" food at 9 weeks. they aren't developed enough. and you will maybe cause complications later on if you try to rush his lil organs to work harder. I personally would at least wait till he is 3 months..
Or Try looking up milk booster cookies. they can be so yummy. they will boost your milk supply and maybe more for him to drink? he might be happier... www.milkin-cookies.com is helpful.but just type it in your search engine.
