I have been using the double pump fromm Ameda since my baby was born 7 weeks ago and LOVE it. I got the Medela Swing (single pump) just yesterday, and love it even more! It is mich more compact, and efficient, and costs a heck of a lot less. pumping both at a time has also been a bit awkward for me. I don't have out of one breast while pumping the other. I pump eachh for 5-10 minutes and get about 6 or 7 ounces ... works for me. I would recommend the Swing for your situation, since you will not be using too heavily ... save yourself the money, there are plenty of baby stuff you'll be able to get with that extra $100, and trust me, you'll need em ... all the best, and congratulations : ).

I have both a Medela Pump In Style Advance and the Ameda Purely Yours (aka the Lansinoh Double Electric).

The Lansinoh is actually more efficient, it weighs less, it costs a heck of a lot less and I prefer the tubing system on the Lansinoh to the Medela. Check out reviews on Amazon and similar sites.

I am a huge fan of the medela pump in style. It has a car adapter, and is dual. Which hunni, unless you are magic and can only make milk come out of one breast, you need a dual pump. When my letdown happened it would be both breasts and without a dual I would be wasting liquid gold. Good luck, anything by medela should be great, but definately opt for a dual. Good luck.

I would definitely recommend the Medela. Whatever you do, do NOT buy an Evenflo pump, they suck.

I have had issues with a low supply lately (my daughter is 4mo) and I have just recently rented a hospital grade Medela pump. I did alot of researching on reviews of different pumps and Medela seemed to do very well.

I would recommend the dual pump for 2 reasons.

The electric Evenflo I have is a single pump and it took me forever to pump both breasts efficienty, especially being at the house just baby and me. The dual pump works wonders. Also, it increases your prolactin levels which helps increase your milk supply.

Edit: I don't work myself, but you never know what is going to happen to your supply. I planned on exclusively breastfeeding for at least one year, but luck wasn't my friend in this matter. I would rather be safe than sorry. Plus, the double pump is way more convenient that the single.

I have the Medela double, and I have been singing its praises to the rooftop. It is such a wonderful pump. I have used it through three children, and it is a workhorse! I usually use it as a single, but sometimes as a double too....it's good to have the option. I could not say enough good things about it. Good luck to you, and congrats.

Don't buy a pump.

Rent it for at least the first 2 months.

My hospital rents them for $55 per month. They normally cost over $1200, and work great (a yellow medela with 2 tubes).

Renting means that if you find out you can't produce enough milk, you don't have a useless breastpump in your closet until baby #2 comes along.

It also means that you don't have a lot of useless breastpumps that don't work very well.

if your not going back to work you will most likely feed from the breast except for occasions so I would suggest the single but I would buy a medela pump.

The more you breast feed the more milk your body will produce, I'm not sure maybe the Madela, singke pump, that way your husband could feed the baby also, but it have come from you!
