Just doing a bit of idle research; Obviously, there's London, and I'm aware of New York and the Paris Metro, but I was wondering how many other cities there are. Any you could name would be helpful.
Nb: I'm looking solely for mass transit systems that go underground, vs. things like the Metrolink in St Louis or an above-ground monorail system.

Cities With Underground Trains

Of course the subway should be extended and there have been various proposals to do so over the years. It was also proposed to extend it to the east end as part of the Commonwealth Games bid and a couple of years ago there was a plan to extend it out to Braehead and the Southern General Hospital , but as ever the money simply wasn't available. Given the council's increasing clampdown on motorists it would certainly make sense to extend the subway. Sadly the underground has had no investment since it's last refurbishment over 30 years ago, and they actually shut stations and made the system smaller that time around. @David S: It's true that Glasgow has quite a good suburban rail network, but not everywhere is served - there certainly isn't a railway station anywhere near me.
Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich, Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia, Alicante, Tokyo, Moscow, Ciudad de Mexico etc etc
After watching the Embra tram fiasco I think I'll pass. Any money would be far better off improving the over-ground trains. Some sort of direct Central/Queen St link would be a good place to start. There's some disused low-level tunnels at Central that could be easily, and relatively cheaply, be put back to good use. Without knowing the exact route of them I suspect they would be ideal for a G/gow airport>Paisley>Central>Queen St>Embra airport>Haymarket>Waverley. It still wouldn't be cheap but at least it would link everything into one
Also, some PATH (Port Authority TransHudson rapid subway) goes underground as well except for west of Grove Street.
Here's two: Washington DC's is almost entirely underground, and Chicago's is partially underground.
Tokyo, Osaka.
Singapore
A lot of major cities in the US.
Vienna
Barcelona
Madrid
Philadelphia (both trains and trolley cars), Chicago, and Camden, New Jersey
