Neither of them because you need a healthy balanced diet for the rest of your life with exercise - I am type 2 diabetic and since I followed a healthy diet and exercise I have lost 24lbs and my blood tests always come back good and my cholesterol is lowered to a healthy level, Google diabetic diet, Good Luck
Okay don't over do it. You will start determined and end frustrated. He is what you do, First thing is first change your diet. I have a sweet tooth like you would not believe. So I looked at the things that I liked and went from there. I like things with a crunch. Change all breads to whole wheat. Eat more veggies. If you hate veggies like I do try a glass of organic uices that mix fruit with Spinach and wheat grass. Go on Walks not runs at first start at two miles and slowly move up to 3 or 4. once there and you have lost some weight and want to run take it slow.. Try sprinting in short bursts. Then return to a walk. Run between telephone pole lengths Eat 6 Small meals a day, Try munching on Pistachios that have been pre shelled. Cut SODA out for a while. I hated doing this. Literally this stuff is nectar of the gods. But over time it got really easy. CHEAT. To not eat any sweets ever is just ridiculous. Have a couple nights a week were you have a soda. Or a little bit of junk here or there. I weighed 230 lbs and now weigh 170. It took some time about 6 to 7 months. I walked everyday and did as many push ups as I could do before bed. Pull ups here or there by a pull bar I put in the kitchen
The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!
Diets for diabetics are very difficult and confusing. It certainly will help you a great deal to understand your dietary needs but no one can tell you which diet will work best for you because everyone responds differently. That's why there are so many diets and so many medications that address every health problem known to man. No one with diabetes should try to deal with it alone, it is much to overwhelming. Check your local large grocery chain to see if they have a registered dietician you can consult with, my local ShopRite offers this for free, also check local hospitals for the same (all hospitals have dieticians on staff), even assisted living facilities and nursing homes may offer some options because of the number of diabetic residents they have. Check the internet for your nearest diabetes association, there's bound to be one near you and they will not only help with diet but offer many other resources such as help with medications, medical resources etc and you will have access to other diabetics who are often a source of problem solutions as one or more of the members are bound to have already encountered many problems you will face because of your disease. Lastly, as far as diet is concerned, a diabetic diet is a very healthy diet and there is no reason you have to have different meals than the people you live with. Encourage those you live with to adopt your new healthy eating style, you may be preventing someone you love from developing diabetes or other health problems later in life if they develop better dietary habits.
* Vegetables (cabbage, baigan, lady fingers, french beans, methi, palak).
* Fruits (except banana, chockoo or mangoes).
* Sprouted beans and pulses.

Adopt DASH diet (Mediterranean diet). Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.

Not the starch diet. Starch = carbohydrates. Carbohydrates = glucose.
Paleo is fine, but there's no need to go paleo. A low-carbohydrate diet of any type will probably work.
* Avoid single high concentrated meals.
* Small frequent meals.
* Food high in fibre content like vegetables, whole pulses, fruits, etc.
Ideal combination of diabetic diet should be:--

Proteins: 15-20% (0.8g /kg /body wt).
Fibres 40 g/day.
