My 8 weeks old is lactose intolerant, soy constipates him terribly and he won't eat nutramigan. Any suggestions?? Has anyone tried the lacto-free formula??
Try Similac Alimentum (my kid wouldn't take Nutramigen but drank this without a problem - - I think it's sweeter and doesn't smell nearly as bad) or Neocate. Start by mixing it with what he is currently on (4oz or so of normal formula and 2oz of new). Slowly increase how much of the new stuff you are giving him until he is on a full bottle of the new formula. This might help him adjust to the taste over time.
My daughter was terribly lactose intolerant - she would get severely constipated, and a lot of rashes. I put her on soy formula and it worked like a charm!
Before you switch to a new type of formula though, it's always good to get a professional opinion, just to be absolutely sure you're making the right choice.
Best of luck!
edit: whoops! Sorry, I didn't read your details properly so I didn't notice you had said soy constipates him...

My daughter is on GENTLEEASE it's very low in lactose and I needed it for her because she was getting terribly constipated with anything else.
your baby needs GENTLE EASE... it's made by Enfamil... it wouldn't hurt to try... it was the only one that my grandson could tolerate.
