I actually have a Sony VAIO and that's the suited pc i've got ever owned (and that i've got had approximately 20). yet I even have in no way had an Alienware, which I hear is rather solid too. additionally, in case you're speaking approximately laptops, Toshiba is relatively solid to.
i like Dell because we use it at work and i have one at home...never had a problem with the hardware...people at Dell that i have spoken to have been very supportive..there prices i believe are compatible...

I have been very happy with my Hewlett Packard. Why? It has been very easy for me to use as a first time computer purchase this last year.
I think for price and quality, Dell is the best brand.
