My kitten (about 3 months) pounces at everything. He attacks anything that moves, jumps off the second floor onto the first, chews on wires, and runs if anyone even gets near him. I don't want him to have to run from EVERYBODY. What can I do to calm him down? Please help.

It is completely normal. Most all kittens are like that, whether they are raised by you or their mother (my boyfriend and I raised 6 kittens over the last winter, and they weren't really any different from the others). We are dealing with this now as well, with a little lost kitten we rescued. Just try to keep him from hurting himself (the biting on wires thing isn't so good!) and he will grow out of it.
All kittens are born wild. They must become adjusted to the smell and touch of human hands.
You need to spend some quality time just holding your kitten and get him accustomed to the sound of your voice so that he attends to you when you call his name. Cover up the wires with something such as thick tape that the kitten cannot chew through easily and when you see him chewing something unsafe for him, take it away from him and give him a cat toy with/ or without catnip that he will be able to safely occupy himself with and use up some of that energy and hunting behavior. Cats recognize other animals and humans by their sense of smell more than anything else. Jumping and pouncing is normal behavior for cats so it is necessary to provide the animal with a climbing gym, scratching post and toys that will be safe and acceptable to you, the owner as well as to the kitten. Reward your kitten for doing things your way, whenever that happens..
If the excitability and excess running continue after that, get him checked by the veterinarian for worms, fleas, or other infestations.
Most Humane Society's have a feral program that sets no kill traps to catch the wild cats. It may cost a few dollars but is cost effective because the longer they hang out there the more kittens you will have. Anytime you have a cat it is wise to find a cheap spay/neuter clinic and have them fixed. It's sad the overpopulation of cat's. Outdoor cats pick up more disease and have shorter life spans than indoor cats. Please,do the right thing. If you can't afford any of my suggestions turn them all over (even the first 3 to the Humane Society). LO Luck
Don't let him chew wires and it's normal for a cat to pounce everything at that age if he does naughty stuff such as doing things that are bad get a squirt bottle and squirt him enough for him to get the message
For running away from people he'll mellow out later in his life.
hes a kitten! they all do that.. when he reaches about 5 months he should start calming down.. i have two cats, found them when they were 5 weeks old. when they were getting older they were becoming very hyped and ran at night threw my house and jumping on everything till age 5 and 6 months, they started calming down but also going threw being in heat! that is the most annoying thing all teenage kittens go threw! trust me he is fine, he is a kitten they act like a 2 yr old toddler. out of control!!! lol
Spanish Fly
Anytime he hurts/ annoys anyone, press hard on his nose. Don't worry, it's not abusing ur animals it doesnt even hurt them trust e i work at a petshop lol and im 17! just try that and they get uncomfortable, then they kno they did something rong takes a while but works!
i've decided this is called "the monster stage" after raisning a few kittens...
when kittens r young thts how they r once they grow up it will get more mild slowly
nothing and go with the flow
