What a coincidence! I have the 2nd and 3rd one. I like the 3rd one a lot better, and it does not cause my saddle to slide back at all. It is very expensive, but it works very well. Oh, and I have been riding (show jumper, hunter jumper) and western for over 7 years and own 4 crazy arabs, and 1 quarter horse, and 2 paints. Hope that helps.
It all depends on if you plan showing really... the third is the best looking, you can still show in the others, but the third is the cleanest look... but if it doesnt matter I would go with the second one, I would be afraid if the first one could slide off the chest, the second lies very flat, and if your saddle slides back a lot, I would be afraid if the second one would hurt because it's so thin... so I say the second one.
hmmm had no idea it was pure elastic... then go for the third one... elastic might pinch if it goes back too far.
1 & 2 are meant more for schooling/eventing. #3 is a hunter breastplate... for obvious reasons.
Very few horses need a breastplate for the reason you've listed if the saddle is being placed properly, and if it is fitting well.
Even if you do need one, it is wise to have a professional evaluate your saddle fit, as using a breastplate improperly can be detrimental to your horse and your saddle. It would just be stupid to ruin the flocking and your horse's gait, instead of adressing the real problem.
The more common uses are for safety during XC, or to attach training equipment.
Personally, i would choose the third one, I have a barn mate who uses that one and it works great!
Have you tried a non-slip pad. That would work better than a brest collar and there cheaper. The non slip pad is black and goes under you regular saddle pad. It works really well if you don't want to spend that much money on a breast collar.
i think the 3 ot 4
my TB has this problem. i use the third one for him. i dont think elastic would do the job properly. breast plate only can cause the whithers to become swollen.
I would say the second or third one... Probably the third one. You should be able to get one somewhere that lets you try them out..
