Will my dentist know I'm bulimic?
i started about 8 months ago but after 2 months of it managed to stop for ages. i started again about 3 months ago and have been doing it more ... i am getting much closer to stopping now as i am getting help, but i have a dentist appointment in about 3 months. if i manage to stop now and take good care of my teeth do you think he will be able to tell? my sick never seems particularly acidic, and my teeth look about the same as always (i have had acid erosion since before my bulimia)
Update:i cant admit it in front of him though as my mum will be there and i cant let her find out

There is a very simple solution. Clear your mind from the fog you are in and realize that your behavior in unacceptable and it causing major damage to your body. All barf is acidic, that's it's job. It comes from the stomach. Stop now and stay stopped.
Grrrr.... I thought I was fat when I was a teenager too. It's part of the experience, ain't it great? But you've got to understand that you will be alive for the next 80 years or so and you don't need to rot out all your teeth before you hit your mid-20's (the most fun time). Your hair and skin will be gray and your eyes will be sallow. Men are not attracted to that.

yes..he will be able to see all the acidic damage to your teeth and throat. Its best that you tell your doctor and mom, so they can get you help. It may not seem like a big deal now , but in the long run you are going to be very ill and have lots of medical problems.
Yes, your dentist will know. Your plaque levels and acid damage will be a sure give away.
I have learned from personal experience that it is better to ADMIT that you have a problem with bulimia than have them ask you... urrr... it is much less ackward, so I have found.
