OP, anytime you alter the original make up of your hair, there is a certain amount of "damage" that must be done. If not...there would be no way you would be able to the obtain the desired look.
When you say straighten, do you mean with heat? How do you plan on straightening your hair? That will determine the amount of damage. If you use chemical, chances are the portion with the chemical added will forever be straight. If you are talking about heat, chances are...if you do it once a week over time your curls will never be the same, should you want to wear your hair curly again. Doesn't mean you can't do it, just means the curls will not be the same, due to the damage.
Sometimes people are willing to sacrifice their natural tresses for the sake of wanting a certain look. You have to ask yourself if you are willing to sacrifice your natural curly hair to have straight hair. If you want straight hair, may be wear it straight (heat method) every two or three months, that way the damage is minimal.
Can you blow dry it straight and that's that or do you need heat or chemicals? Blow drying is less harsh. Just still don't do it too often...because that two can damage your hair.
my hair is naturally curly also. I started straightening it when i was about 5 to 6 years ago. It hasn't effected my hair any except for the ends break off a bit. You just have to keep your hair trimmed ever so often so it won't look horrible and dried out. There is John Frieda or Nexxus protectant spray thay you can get at walmart or target. It works pretty good also.
NO, not with PROPER maintenance. I've been straightening my hair for 2 years now, i do it twice a week. I'm able to continue doing it for so long as I'm able to maintain it healthy. Also, no, it won't lose the natural structure of your hair, so yeah if it's curly, you won't lose it.
It does hurt your hair because you are basically frying it . . . using a curling iron, straightener, or blow dryer damage your hair. There is a spray out there that protects your hair from heat damage . . . my sister uses it. I think the brand is Suave, but I'm sure there are other brands out there.
First, get them trimmed off. Then be super on your hair. Use moisturizing products and attempt to not divulge your hair to warmth on a daily basis. once you venture your hair, comb via it with a super enamel comb and in no way use a broom on moist hair, use the brush. moist hair is amazingly fragile and might destroy particularly. There are products that artwork super for chop up ends, yet they simply artwork temporarly, the chop up ends come again after a collectively as.
