If you opened it a week ago it will not kill you or make you sick. It might taste a little like vinegar, but it will still get you drunk. What the hell--drink up!
They make a wine bottle stopper that you can pump the air out of the bottle (creates a vaccum). That will give it a little more refrig. time. I don't think you would get more than a day ...maybe two out of it. The (collapsible) wine box packaging might work for you but even that "will change" too. Invite me over....I will help you finish the bottle so it won't go bad.
The air changes the taste totally. I think it gets oxygenated. A week would be too long.
as much as possible,, after you opened a bottle of wine...finish it...but when it forms this kind of white is thing in it...dont drink anymore...or even if it turns sour...not a good thing to drink it...

Most red wine, after an hour it starts tasting funky.
White wine, a little longer.
Really cheap wine (or box wine), will probably be OK after a week.
If you chill it (put it in the freezer for 20 minutes), it won't taste as funky.
I would never drink a wine opened a week ago, barf. At most two days tops.
Life is too short to drink bad wine.
