'98 ford ranger dies when put in gear, why?
It starts fine and idles fine, but when I put it in drive or reverse it dies and does not want to restart. After letting it sit for a while it starts up without hesitation, but dies when put into gear. What would cause this?

Hi Jennifer,
Sounds like a bad "safety neutral switch", for more info try calling some local repair shops, someone might be able to explain how to get it to run temporarily to get it to shop to fix it .
