Do the xbox 360 rechargable batteries ever permanentally run out, like so you can't recharge them with the play and charge kit, and you would have to buy a new set of rechargable batteries?
**Also how long is the cord for the play and charge kit? cause i heard it was pretty short

If somehow the rechargeable batteries permanently run out then u can replace the batteries in it (AA's)
The cord is a decent length, around 8-10ft (3 metres)
Apparently extensions are available for it too.
Overall, definitely worth getting, saves lots of money in the long run on batteries. You can also plug the USB cord into ur computer or anything else that has a USB port and charge it from there as long as it is on.
**Edit. How very true Steven but who charges their Xbox 360 controller from a PS3? A majority of people with XB360's have chosen the Xbox over the PS3, therefore they don't have a PS3.
Just recharge the pack. You can play while it's charging. that's why it's called the Play n charge kit. As far as the AA batteries, even though they are rechargeable batteries, I would think that it wouldn't. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Play for about an hour or so with the rechargeable battery pack in, and plugged into the cord, and you're good to go. Wait for the light on the cord to turn green, and you're fully charged, all while you played. Isn't that cool?
Glow in the dark explained it pretty well, but he isn't correct that it goes in all USB ports.
Did you ever try to hook it up into the PS3 USB port? Guess what? It doesn't work because it won't read it.
So to get back on track with his question.
It saves you alot of money in the end by getting this item. You could find them cheap on ebay or if you're lucky might even have it on craigslist.com.
If they do get burnt out just replace them buy going into your local store *ex: Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc..etc.* and buy the replacement battery for only $11.99.
It all depends how long you play with battery aswell, but you could always "play and charge" it while you're gaming. That way it charges fully and never runs out.
*wink wink*
The play and charge kit does die out fast but it wont die permanently. The cord is short about 4 to 5 feet.
