I'll go over EVERYTHING very simply considering you don't know anything about it, so this will probably end up being a long answer. :p Plus I have nothing better to do, so whatever.
First, you install the software first. You use the discs it came with OR go to their website and download it here:
Once it's installed, and the Zune device is connected it will automatically sync everything. If you go to Settings (top right corner in software) you'll notice it lists 4 major categories (Music, Video, Pictures, and Podcasts). Under those categories it lists about, 7 folders or something (Users\Public\Category) and Users\YourName\Category).
Added: If you want music/pictures/videos to be synced directly from the folder Limewire dumps the downloads into (I don't suggest this), go to Settings. Under the 3 categories I just listed add the folder location that Limewire dumps the files into. It should work then. Or, as I prefer, just send the files to the correct locations (My Music, My Pictures, My Videos)
What this means is that everything in those folders, will automatically sync to your Zune as long as the file format is compatible. Here is what is compatible:
Audio Files supported:
AAC, MP3, WMA
Video files supported:
MP4, MPEG4, WMV, H.264
Image Files supported:
JPEG
Considering all your files are compatible, they will all sync on. Now, you might have a problem which I personally have not run into.
I have a 30GB Zune (all Zunes have the same firmware so everything is the same except the amount of memory and sizes), and I only have 24 gigs of stuff. If you have more than 4 GB of music, pictures, and movies then you'll run out of room, obviously. Seeing as how I've never run into this problem I don't know what it says, or if it gives a warning but if it does happen you can go to settings and remove folders from the sync list, which will stop them from syncing (you can go into them manually and drop a file into the software from the folders you remove). You can also remove files under the 'Device' tab up top and manually sync others in under the 'Collection' tab.
Another thing the software does which can be convenient or annoying, is that it automatically removes files. Say you went under collection and synced an ACDC album onto the Zune. Then, you delete that album. The next time you sync the device the album is removed.
Enough software stuff. You'll figure it out as you go along, but trust me - it's a pain in the ***.
The Zune Marketplace is kind of like iTunes, but for a Zune. I personally don't use it at all because with a Zune you can get music from anywhere and have it work. Apple fans will mislead you saying you need to use the marketplace. Anyway, the marketplace uses Microsoft points which you use to buy songs. An individual song costs 79 points, which comes out to be 98.75 cents/song.
They sell points in: $5/400, $15/1200, $25/2000, $50/4000. No deal is better than the other, all points/$ are the same. They also have a $15/month = unlimited points. But really, just use limewire or whatever and make life simpler.
The device itself is extremely simple. It has 3 buttons. Play/Pause, Back, and the middle button. Self explanatory. When you're looking at pictures, you can press play/pause to stop and play slide shows, when listening to music you can press back to do something else while listening to it (pictures cancel music out). Nothing ever stops playing in a sense. It's always paused until you play something else. So if I exit music and let my player sit for 2 days, if I come back the music will be paused where I left it. Also the device never fully turns off. The off is more like a sleep mode. Any button turns it back on.
That's about it, really. All the simple stuff anyway. Anymore questions email me.
Lets start with something easy like transfering music to your player from limewire.
Go to limewire.com for free music
Open up (lime wire.) Under your downloads to the left of the screen is the button labeled "Explore" Click it. A page with all your downloads pops up. Drag the music files to you music library/media player then transfer/drag and drop to your mp3/4.
