Me and a couple girlfriends are planning a trip to cabo from january 4th-11th.
1. We are trying to decide between Riu palace and Riu Santa Fe...What is the difference? Which one do you recommend? Is Palace worth the extra couple hundred dollars? Also, how far is the hotel from the city (restaurants, clubs) and if we do need to cab, how much is cab fare roughly?
2. What's Cabo like in the first week of January? Do the crowds die down since it's the first week after the holidays or is the atmosphere still as fun? Basically, I'm hoping that there'll be lots of young people in their 20s there when we go..
3. How's the weather then? I know it's not as hot as usual, but is it hot enough still to tan?
I would really appreciate your input!
Thank you!!

Hola!
1a. The Riu's are next door to each other on a really large stretch of beach on the outskirts of Cabo. They both have their own charm (the Sante Fe is newer - the Palace is larger). Overall, they are pretty much the same. I swear you won't lose out if you pick the cheaper one. Sante Fe is usually more expensive, so if you got a better deal with Sante Fe, take it!
1b. Both Rius are pretty close to the downtown area. You are talking a cab ride of 7 minutes. Some people even chose to walk home either by the beach or roadway (but the roadway can be tricky). Its not that far really. At night I would highly recommend getting a cab though.
2. What's January like in Cabo? Cabo is fantastic in January. That is why we have the most people visiting at this time of year. The weather is hot hot hot, and perfect suntanning weather. It cools down a bit at night, but I really love it here because its not that humid, there are no bugs, and tons of people to party with. The best time of year hands down.
You will not run out of fun places to go in Cabo. Whether you spend your days on Medano beach downtown or all night in the clubs or get busy with all the activities that are available....you won't be bored!
Enjoy your time down here!
Riu Palace Santa Fe
