1966 fairlane won't engage starter from ignition switch?
new starter soleniod, new ignition switch. Switch powers on, but won't engage starter. Can start car by jumping across soleniod. Quit working amidst several spin-overs while adjusting points.
The solenoid has failed. Or, the neutral safety has failed. Use a 12v wire trace light and place it in the start post of the solenoid. Use the key and try to start. IF the light comes on? There you go. Bad solenoid. No light? Bad neutral safety. Or, worse. Bad start connection inside or at ignition switch.

REVERSE the wires on the solenoid.
2 wires are used, the BLACK(possibly with a colored stripe) goes to + on the solenoid.
