Hi, so i build a website for my online community (still work i progress)
I get around 1000 users, with around 6000 page views per month.
I am not expecting to make money on this but I was wondering if it would be worth putting advertising on my website to cover the costs like server rental, domain name etc..
If yes, then what would you suggest I do? which advertising provider should I use ?

Monetizing your website with ads is a challenging business model. As you've pointed out, the best way to be attractive to an advertiser is to make sure your website generates more qualified traffic than your advertisers can generate on their own.
Still, there are a few ways you can make your ads interesting and available while you're building up your traffic:
1) Using advertising networks
2) Pricing your ads based on actions
3) Working out the math
Google Adwords and Facebok ads are the two most famous online advertising techniques, these are used to generate leads and boost to a business. But before developing any digital marketing strategy, understanding both the techniques is very important.
Here are some pointers to help you with the same.
1.Google Adwords is query-based and shows the advertisement when prospects make query with specific keywords attending to their need in real-time. Facebook Ad on the other hand is a piece of content primarily to educate the users.
2. In google adwords, number of views of a particular advertisement is limited. However, in Facebook Ads advertisement is displayed in thousands or tens of thousands Facebook profiles to let people know about the product.
3. Google Adwords aims to fulfill the customers’ existing needs as they already want a certain product which is being advertised, while Facebook Ads educates people about that product and create the need among the potential customers.
4.Google Adwords usually is short-term association with the customers while Facebook Ads are for long term engagement with the prospects or the customers in future.
Google adense would be your main choice, but there are services that you can implement code into your forums and people can "bid" on their ads to be automatically displayed on their website. I think it's called ProjectWonderful, not sure.
It's probably not a good idea to put ads on a forum as it tends to turn off visitors due to the large amounts of annoying ads. If you just have one in the bottom and maybe the top (small) thats fine but dont border the forums with ads galore.
I'd start with ProjectWonderful.
I will suggest you to get professional advise because the things start from how your website is designed. So on and so forth.
Should you be interested in acquiring such services at dirt cheap charges, you may contact me through yahoo answers. :) You see, when it's about IT then a specialist sitting overseas could offer you the same services what you end up paying more in the country you are living.
Hi there. You should try to start with AdSense. This is Google's platform and what it does is adding your website to it's Network of Displays and run adverts tailored to the profile of your website/visitors.
I'll have to agree with Jake. I don't think you'll make much with adsense yet, and it might just make a mess of your forum. It might be best to sell ads to private sponsors directly.
You can mention on your forum that you'll be selling some private banner space to interested parties, or you can contact some small businesses that might benefit from the ad.
Ads don't help search engine ranking or user loyalty, typically sites may hit the $100 min Adsense paying with 10,000 visitors, forums might not fare as well as normal content sites. Having "Sponsored posts" you charge for is one alternative.
I suggest You Ad-words , SMO Paid Services,Search engine optimization Improve Ranking or User loyalty ...
