I filed and was accepted on March 9th.
A coupla days later WMR website said it was to be direct deposited on the 17.
Ive been checking periodically since then on there website and the dates are constantly changing.
Last night it said it would e direct deposited on the 24th.
NOW today it says something different.
"We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Your expected refund date has been changed due to processing delays. You should receive your refund by May 8, 2012. Please wait until that date to contact us again because we cannot take any action until then. Thank you for your patience."

thats 2 months to process a return?
so my question is does this mean im probably going to be audited? since originally it gave a date to be direct deposited, and now it says a delay and its simply being processed?

there are delays and they are not audits of current returns
when you are being audited you will be notified by IRS, they will tell you what they want to see documentation to prove your claim and you will probably be given a date to comply or to make an appointment to meet with an examiner
No, the IRS is just having problems with adjusting to the volume of returns. You are fine as long as your return was accepted. You would know with a letter in the mail if you were being audited.
