Usually the biggest risk is getting an infection, since a bite is an open wound. Just keep it clean & maybe put some Neosporin on it. If there's any swelling, increased redness, fever or you have any concerns, call your Dr.
If this is a new hamster, keep an eye on him/her for signs of illness although it's highly unlikely that the hamster has anything that would transmit to you. With a hamster you've had for a while, you should have a pretty good idea of whether the little guy is ill.

If it is carrying, yes. Best thing to do if bitten (and I have been) is wash very well with soap and water immediately - not an hour later!
