So this is my first time ever taking a language class and my other school didn't have it or they didn't tell me about it and I'm in the 7th grade and I decided to take Spanish. First reason being is that its the 2nd or 3rd most used language in America from my knowledge and it is fairly easy to use and it could really help you in your career. But I was wondering if you could learn Spanish and actually have a conversation from just learning it in school. I plan on taking it every year they have it. My teacher's first language from what I understand is Spanish which she of course also speaks English. So I was wondering if you could learn the language fluently because I had an Arabic friend and he learned English from school but it probably was easier for him since he is actually in America. Anyways thanks for taking the time to read this.
Update:I will be watching Spanish TV shows also and try to talk to people that are Spanish in school to. Also to keep up the terms and everything I'll be finding people on the internet to speak with although that doesn't help with the speaking part of it.

The bottom line is that it is up to you to 'put it all together'. Of course, you can learn Spanish fluently in school, especially with a good teacher. And in fact, that is probably a more efficient way than if you were interested and to attempt studying it all alone. But when you get to the point in school of being asked by the teacher to 'have a conversation' as practice, with teacher or another student ... don't stop there! Take the fluency you've got and ... 'Put it all together' : Use your Spanish with people, inside and outside of school, whom you do not know, in real-life situations around you (as those things present themselves to you... and they will...). Go the extra kilometer and really add fluency. Bueno suerte!
That kind of depends. School will teach you basics of the language, how to say things like Bano, Bueno, etc. but Conversation with an native spanish speaker will help you speak it Fluently.
