I had inadvertently hit a firewall setting on my computer, and ever since then I can't see any webpages. I have tried everything that I can think of includung the deleting or deactivating of all the firewalls. Still the only thing that comes up is the "cannot display webpage" page. I know for a fact that I am connected to the internet, but am at my wit's end trying to fix this problem. Pleaseany computer whizes out there.

With not being able to get online - downloading Mozilla's Firefox will be hard - unless you revert to dialup to do this - but most likely I would say it something more basic - try some of the following:
If you have already checked all of the security on your PC (firewalls and anti virus programs) and have decided that none of them are the source of the problem - also don't forget to work with the windows firewall to ensure that this isn't the problem either - I would try the following:
Turn your PC fully off (not restart) and also power your router off for 20 to 30 seconds - and then power the router & pc back on and try to connect after doing so - if this still doesn't work I would try the next step....
If You can get secure pages, but not non-secure ones
Most times you see this problem, it has been caused by router settings in a Belkin router.Changing the setting from PPPoE to PPPoA usually resolves it.
Some websites load fine, but others do not load at all.
Often this is as a result of using DNS server addresses (router settings) belonging to another ISP (provider). Also, sometimes the problem can be as a result of obtaining DNS server addresses by DHCP rather than specifying which ones to use. To change or check these - access your router configuration page (a number web address, EXAMPLE 192.168.1.1 - but this will vary from router to router) If your not familiar with accessing your router - it would be best to call your ISP (provider) and they can quickly check these settings with you to ensure all is correct.
try downloading firefox....
