Your cartilage sounds as if it isn't healed completely yet. It can take 9 months or longer to completely heal and if you bump it, pull it, cause any kind of trauma to irritate it can set you back some extra time. Make sure you are still cleaning it properly.

Also if it isn't healed yet, if you take it out you may have a problem getting it back in. I would take it out for a minute or two and put it back. Then take it out for an hour and see if it goes back. Keep extending the time it is out to make sure if you sleep with out it you can still get it back in.

I wouldn't do the tragus until you are certain the other side is healed, unless you want to sleep on your back for a few months

mine still hurts and i've had it pierced for ages, i wouldn't take it out at night though. start cleaning it with salt water again to see if it heals, that should help it hurting too.

you could try going back to your piercer, and asking them to put a flexible plasticy bar in instead (i forget what the material is called). that way when you sleep, the bar will move with your body and hopefully not interfere with sleeping.

i wouldn't suggest getting your tragus done on the other side until the other one stops hurting. but i really recommend you try doing the things i said cos it should help.

i dont know anything about tragus piercings but i got my cartilage pierced 6 months ago and i accidentally fell asleep without one in and it was fine when i woke up so yea

its really not good to sleep on a new piercing, it can migrate and it will look gross.
