I heard that if you lease or purchase a Chevy Volt, you get a check of a specific amount from your state for being environmentally friendly. Is that true? Please help me, I'm on the way to leasing one.
If you purchase a Volt or other plug-in car, like the Nissan Leaf or Mitsubishi i-MiEV, you are eligible for a tax rebate of $7500. Some states have additional rebates - check with your local authorities.

Leasing doesn't work the same way. The rebate goes to the dealer, not to you - but the rebate amount is reflected in the lease price.

FYI, The Chevy Volt (and Ampera, the Euro version) is on track to surpass 30,000 cars sold in 2012. National and international sales numbers are updated on Volt's Wiki page:
The Volt is an excellent car that is energy efficient, well-equipped, and quite fun to drive. If you haven't yet, definitely go take one out for a spin. The Chevrolet homepage has a full list of available features, current offers, and competitive comparison guide. Your interest is certainly appreciated. Best of luck to you!

It took Prius seven years after introduction to pass the 30,000 sales per year milestone. Volt is doing it in two.

They offer a big discount to anyone who will buy one because that is the only way they can get rid of any of them. They aren't selling at all.
