someone use to come out once a month to our apartment and spray stuff on the baseboards to prevent cockroaches from coming. he hasnt been here in a few months and my apartment has roaches everywhere. is it the landlords responsibility to get rid of the roaches or mine? if it is the landlord's can we get out of our lease because of this? how would we go about breaking the lease because of the roaches? she wont let us out of our lease unless we pay 3 months rent.

It is the landlord's responsibility in general, to maintain a relatively sanitary place to live. You must find out what your city's laws are regarding your problem. There are very strict laws where I live. One can pay reduced or no rent unless the landlord responds to a written request to address the problem.
Are the cockroaches in the apartment due to your filth, or are they there because they've always been there? If it's your fault, you can't expect the landlord to handle it.
If they've always been a problem, you can expect the landlord to deal with it. Call the exterminator yourself, pay the person, and deduct it from rent while giving a copy of the receipt to the landlord. KEEP THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT in case you have to go to court later to explain why you didn't pay the full amount.
Good luck.
