Dental hygienists are NOT in demand right now. And no most dentists seem to be cheap and DO NOT GIVE ANY benefits. Meaning they dont even give health insurance to hygienists.
Hygienists I have discovered were traditionally women who wanted a part time job. Women who are married on their husbands insurance and wanted a part time good career. So most job openings are part time without benefits.
You can get away with working part/time as a dental hygienist. Pretend that you work 3 days a week for 8 hours (that is 24 hours) and you make at least $20.00. That means you'd make $480 a week. Not too shabby!
It all depends on the office, most likely (whether or not you work p/t.) Some dental hygienists work in 2 offices if they want more hours/days.
