Can someone please tell me the difference between getting a BSN and BS Degree? And is one more marketable in this economy than another...as in If I were to get a BSN, would I have a less chance of getting a job because getting a BS is better?
Im a senior applying to colleges but each college offers different degrees and I want to narrow down my list of schools .
Update:btw, Im planning to become a nurse anethesist. So that would mean I would have to go to a 4 yr college/university and obtain a degree there and then go back to college for two more years to become a nurse anethesist. Should this factor determine whether I should go for a BSN or BS??????

Diane is correct. (I hate to state that the second answer is not).
BSN degree allows you to take the state board to become a nurse. A plain BS degree does not. It's simple as that.
Yes, it takes many years to become one. I kantsiestle (one from the USAF and one just fresh out of school). You have to have a couple of years of work experience under your belt before they accept you. (They encourage you to have ICU experience.)
A BS is just a bachelors of science degree--in any major-you would need a major. A BSN is a bachelors of science in NURSING to become a nurse specifically. All 4 year universities offer bachelors degrees, but not all universities have a school of nursing. Do you want to be a nurse? Then you must get a BSRN, not just a BS
To your EDIT: to be a CRNA, you need to be a RN first (BSRN) and work as a nurse in critical care for a few years. NOT A BS.
Diane is partially correct. To be an RN, you need to graduate with a BSN or equivalent. For example: UC Irvine had a degree in Nursing Science which is a BS not a BSN, I beleive.
Also, to become an CRNA, you don't need a nursing degree. You can also do science at many schools. (just looked at UCLA requirements last night).
Whether its a BA, BS, or BSN = it's all the same. It just depends on what your specific degree you are interested. For example: UCSB offers both a BA or BS in Biology. Each has a slightly different emphasis. Either one will get you into med school.
As a artwork rigidity nurse in a wellbeing center, a BSN in basic terms earns you approximately $a million greater according to hour. Pay variations come once you handle management, administrative, case administration, and so on. which a BSN grad is greater qualified for, educationally talking. in terms of quite variations in the degree, as a BSN, you may take greater widespread coaching and non-obligatory courses, and the greater nursing courses concentration greater on concept, nursing history, study, public wellbeing, management, and so on.
