can someone help me with the difference between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.I need to write an editorial on this topic. Thank you. :)
-Prokaryotes e.g. bacteria like E.-coli have no nucleus (only nucleoid region where DNA is located);
-have no membranous organelles (no Lysosomes, no smooth or rough Endoplasmic reticulum, etc);
-they are smaller 10nm (vs. 100nm for eukaryotes)
-They only have a single circular chromosome, while eukaryotes have more choromosmes e.g humans 46 chromosomes).
-reproduce via binary fission i.e. splitting in two resulting in two identical daughter cells (eukaryotes go thought Mitosis to divide)
Hope this helps
the biggest different is that eukaryotic cells have membrane bound organelles (nucleus, ER, golgi) and prokaryotic cells do not.
The prokaryotic cell has a cell nucleus and the eukaryotic cell doesn't.
