Most Aussies get along well with people of all ethnic and religious groups. Of course there are some narrow-minded bigots like you will find in all societies, but if you are willing to mix with Aussies, adapt to Australian customs and take and give a bit of good-natured teasing occasionally (NOT racist bullying), you will find yourself completely accepted in Australia.

There are quite a lot of Indians and Sri Lankans in Australia, and more coming all the time. I get on very well with my Indian next-door neighbours, and salivate at the aroma of their cooking every night! There are loads of Indian restaurants and shops in Melbourne, so if you get homesick, you can easily cook and eat your favourite dishes. Whatever your religion, you can practice it freely here, you can wear whatever you like, and although you will find Australian English quite different from Indian English, you will manage very well.
