Libertarians don't necessarily have an issue with age of consent laws, though. The idea that you have to reach the age of consent to drink, smoke or have sex isn't counter-libertarian and is, in fact, an important part of contract law. A consent-based society needs to have some definition of who can consent and what constitutes consent in order to mediate disputes.
That being said, I think the drinking age is too high, and at the very least it should be consistent with the age of adulthood.
Most libertarians have not addressed this issue simply because they are focused on the bigger issues (the drug war, real war, the FED, etc.) I'm sure if a libertarian was in office he would let the stat's decide what they want the drinking age to be.
I am a liberal libertarian. I think the government's job is to keep out of foreign affairs and work on problems here. NOT SOCIAL PROBLEMS! Gays should get married to whoever they want.
I think it depends how Libertarian they are. Conservative Libertarians would probably say yes since in reality they aren't REALLY true Libertarians, Anarcho-Capitalists, on the other hand may say no.
For anyone who believes it is the role of the Government to prevent the health problems from underage drug consumption. Most people don't stick 100% to any given ideology.

People who are underage have neither the right to drink, vote or enter into contracts. The plilosophy applies to adults.

In a Libertarian society high school students could buy crack out of a vending machine.
I applaud you for being one of the few people here willing to ask an honest question, rather than trying to further an agenda. Thanks.
