I love Art in all shapes and forms, but at times it upsets me when people starts 'defining art'. It seems to me that everyone has a definition, and then worst when going to college and listening to instructors and professors alike giving to everyone an equal and 'standard' definition of art; something in the lines of 'Imagination, Creativity, and Skill'.
No way, no way I would ever accept that so simple and so unsatisfying 'definition', and when I'm ask about it, I tell people exactly what I told those instructors and professors quoting the great Edgar Allan Poe: Art is "The reproduction of what the senses perceive in nature through the veil of the soul".
That's exactly what Art is for me. I live it, I sense it, and I feel it exactly like that, and if someone disagrees with that, that person is not worth of possessing that 'sacred' title of 'Artist'.
"Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term Art, I should call it 'the reproduction of what the Senses perceive in Nature through the veil of the soul.' The mere imitation, however accurate, of what is in Nature, entitles no man to the sacred name of ''Artist.'' ~Edgar Allan Poe~
