It would likely depend on the breed.. Though since wolves have erect ears, I'd expect that it would be the dominant gene... Also, the first thing to usually disappear in a mix of a prick eared breed and a floppy eared breed is the prick ear.... but it shows up a lot in mutts.. good, thought provoking question, though!
I would have to guess that floppy ears dominate. It seems to me, a common thing you see with GSD mixes, for example, is that the ears drop - everything else could look almost exactly like a GSD, but the ears give it away.
I'm not sure one this b/c I must say...I never actually looked it up, just kinda surmised it based on my experience.
It depends on what breed. Cocker Spanials for instant have floppy ears, even boxers naturally have floppies, but a lot of especially smaller breeds have naturally straight ears.
If you're talking about pure breeds, then they will either stand or they won't depending on the breed & a few examples that didn't bother reading the breed standard. If you're talking about mixes, then I doubt that anyone's even studied it, but of course could be wrong. I've only studied genetics as they relate to what I breed & have never seen mention of it

I believe floppy ears are dominant. People get their pets ears trimmed as puppies so they stand up straight. But generally they are floppy.
