Hi Everyone,
It's been a while that I am thinking to go back to school, personally I am not satisfies with who I am right now but I'll need some more good reeasons to start this path again so I'd like your expert opinions on this please, specially managers and HR experts.
I was student at a university in Europe in Electronics Engineering. for some reasons I couldn't finish my degree and I had to move to Canada. I am 24 now i am working as a Network Engineer and making about 40K/year with almost 3 years of experience. but I just decided to go back to school and start over I'd like to get my B.Eng then hopefully my Master of Eng mostly in Communications (Electronics). First of all I dont know how big a difference it will make in my salary range, unfortunately I don't have an actual model to look at and I don't like to rely on salary websites so if you are a manager or a HR person you prob could me. and how about the long term effects of having degree from a good university (I am thinking McGill or Carelton) .. I mean it's literally 6 or 7 years of my life, and if I don't go back to school I'll have 10 years job experience in my hand and my wadges will go higher for sure. So as an expert would you recommend going back to school? do you think it's smart to NOT to go back to school. I am more thinking over this, I am thinking about when I got my degree and the new opportunities that will open up but I kind of have to start over! however probably in a better position.
As a side note about my personality, I never can settle for less I always like to improve and that reflects my job. I always dream to work on big projects and actually making a change in this world so maybe that's why my hand are tight to choose a better job and improve. I guess by now you know what I am saying and what I need, I'd appreciate your great help and thanks for you time.
BTW: If you are an Engineer reading this please tell me your opinion, would you rather go back in time and just save yourself couple years by just going to college or do you think it actually worth it? Do you see yourself ahead of others and why?
Thank you all so much.
