Guardian angels and spirit guides are contrasting entities. The phrase Guardian angels comes from the fact that Jesus condemned those who were not gracious to children by telling these people that the angels who watched over the children had special access to God. We are told that we are to contact God personally, He is the one that gives the angels instructions. God loves us and desires that we contact him. Jesus is the one familiar with our difficulties and weaknesses such that He can and does make intercession for us before God constantly.
