Yes, but a 4.0 doesn't guarantee perfect understanding.
To improve my grades, for me, it was soley about effort. When you have time, study. Sleep plenty, and make sure you relax before going to bed. Save your relaxing time to right before bed. If you start out the day productively, there's a good chance you'll continue that way. Don't start out the day with video games or TV.
Eventually as I've gone through the years I've discovered what works for me and what doesn't, but generally to prepare for a test I:
-Read through the powerpoints and my notes (usually the first thing I do to get an initial understanding)
-Read through the book and create my own study guide
-Create a practice test on what topics I don't understand fully or if I think the teacher will ask a question about it
I also sometimes record the audio of lectures
I hope that helps you.
I used to hate math too, but once you work at it you get better. Trigonometry is a ***** and it only gets tougher. Reinforce, reinforce, reinforce. If you're not sure about something, go over it again and again until you're positive, it will help you understand it and remember it. Practice the basics, that helps me. Keep at it, you'll get in to Cambridge :)
Try Khan Academy. Its an online touter program free of charge. Bill Gates kids have used it. It does everything from math to history to religion. They do video to help you understand concepts like algebra. If that doesn't help look up youtube videos, they should help! ive done it! Good Luck.....I live in the US but dream of going to Oxford so i feel yeah!
