I keep hearing and reading rumors that basic training is really watered down now a days. Is this true? I mean, I know it's not as hard as it used to be, but how much easier have they made it? I want to pass knowing that I accomplished something, not that they made it so easy that if you fail, that's just absurd. One rumor specifically is that they now give 8 hours of sleep instead of the usual guaranteed 4?
Thank you.

everyone who has ever been to basic training, thinks that basic for those who came after them, was easier
the WW l grunts think they had it harder than the WW ll grunts, the WW ll grunts think they had it harder than the Korean war grunts, the Korean war grunts think they had it tougher than the Vietnam grunts, the Vietnam grunts think they had it tougher than the cold war grunts, the cold war grunts think they had it tougher than the current batch of grunts
if you follow that logic, superman would not have been able to make it through basic in WWl
2. the Rangers even have a saying, they tell new rangers '' I went through the last " hard " class at ranger school "
of course, it doesn't matter if they went through 3 months ago, 3 years ago or 10 years ago
they all say it
It's easier, but that does not mean it's easy.
Despite real efforts in recent years, you still have a 1 in 3 chance of being raped.
IDK, I only went through it once and that was in 1967.
